I concluded that my love of hiking was the only thing that led me to Effigy Mounds Park, an elegant 2,526-acre monument where a 14-mile trail winds around the hill. Native American Hills, located at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in northern Wisconsin, and the monument, located north of Chillicothe, Ohio, on the Ohio-Wisconsin border, were written on August 21, 1915. The Wisconsin images and hills are permanently preserved by the Wisconsin State Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), which was established on July 1, 1916 as part of a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to permanently preserve the monuments, the first of their kind in North America, on the site of an Indian Mound National Monument in Wisconsin. Effigie Mounded Park (also known as EffiMounds National Historic Park or EffieMound State Park), located about 30 miles northeast of Chicago, Illinois, about 20 miles south of Milwaukee, is the largest public park in Ohio.

Serpent Mound is located in Adams County, Ohio and is one of the largest public monuments of the US National Park Service (NPS). Bulger's Hollow is located 15 minutes north of Clinton and is operated by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (OHDNR). It has been a National Historic Site since May 2018.

Rivers and lakes that can be used for kayaking and canoeing include Great Lakes National Park, Lake Erie and Ohio River with its tributaries, and Cleveland River.

The effigy hills are found throughout the state of Ohio, but they are concentrated in the southern part of the states. They were found in Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa and across the country, some at the Effigies Mounds National Monument. Most of these figures and hills were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, though many other figures were found in other states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Indian hills were built when settlers moved into the region that is now the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Zion Camp march passed through several of these hills, including two that are explicitly mentioned in historical records. This route was built by the US Army Corps of Engineers during the Civil War and World War II.

The hill near Williamson belonged to the Adena tribe and is located on the western edge of Illinois County, north of Chillicothe, Ohio. A National Historic Landmark preserves the hill that is located here, as well as the A.A. Williamson Indian Reservation, a national register of historic sites.

Cahokia Monk Hill in Illinois, Missouri, is one of the largest mounds of earth in the United States and was probably built before Columbus arrived. Santee National Wildlife Refuge is located on the western edge of Illinois County, north of Chillicothe, Ohio, and is a National Historic Landmark and National Register of Historic Sites. This is an easily recognizable Indian tomb that is part of a series of large eardrums - such as hill structures from the mid-19th century to the early 1900s, including the first of its kind in North America, the so-called Woodland Period. It is the oldest known prehistoric Indian hill with a total area of about 3,000 square kilometers.

However, it appears to have been built mainly from hills in the form of mammals, birds and reptiles, the so-called effigies, which are now known to have been found on the hill in this area.

Mounds Park is on the corner of Choctaw Place and there are twelve barrows and one hill after another. This neighborhood park is one of the oldest in Waukesha County and the largest in Wisconsin. Students will explore the effigies and hills of the Wausau district, including a beautiful information board near the park entrance and the cemetery of the hills. In the vicinity are The two hills created by the Adena culture and located nearby are the site of a burial mound, two of which were buried with historical settlers. It is essentially a case and resembles what the Plains Forest Indians used, but there is no neighborhood in this park.

The county has acquired five South Carolina Indian mounds, which are on the National Register of Historic Rivers, as well as a Mississippi hill found inland in the river's fall line.
